Description
General title page (1660) engraved by Guli. Vaughan with architectural border featuring Moses and the ten commandments and David playing the harp. The four gospel writiers with their gospel symbols below. Text in two column Roman font and ruled in red throughout. Without Apocrypha as issued. New Testament title (1660) within woodcut border and center ornament. Bound with a complete copy of the Whole Book of Psalms with title page (1660) featuring a woodcut border.

Binding
Fine 20th century embroidered binding. Silver and gold colored threadwork featuring an arch design on front board with floral motifs around a central crown that features tiny pearls. Additional silver and gold colored threadwork to lower board in an oval design around a potted plant featuring flowers. Spine with silver and dark green colored threadwork in circles and floral motifs. Tiny sequins sown to binding throughout. All edges gilt.
Condition
Crown on front boards lacks one small pearl. Lacks V5-8 (Job 2-14); Cc1, Cc12 with lower marginal tear touching a few letters; title page with lower corner marginal repair reducing red-ruled border; infrequent soiling and browning; gilt rubbed and faded.
Provenance
Inscription to front endpaper reads “To my dear wife xmas 1950 Prov 31:28” and “To my dear daughter xmas 1963 from mummy” and “to my dear Christine from mum 2008” to verso.
