Seventeenth edition. Text in single column Roman font, divided into twenty-two chapters. Charles Bridges (1794-1869) was a prominent member of the evangelical party in the Anglican church, and author of many popular devotional and theological treatises including this one. A lovely fore-edge painting with a view of the Thames River with St. Paul’s Cathedral in the background.

Binding
Bound in grained dark blue paneled morocco, with both boards embellished with heavy gold-leaf work and a central lozenge tooled in blind. Hubbed spine with six elaborately gilt-tooled compartments and the words “Bridges on Psalm CXIX” lettered in gilt. All edges gilt.
Condition
Internally crisp, clean, and bright. Slightly splayed, with joints lightly rubbed and gilt to spine lightly faded. Gilt to edges and forge-edge painting remain clear and vibrant.
