Description
2 vols. Ornately gilt paneled contemporary red morocco, featuring a Scottish Wheel design with numerous drawer handle tools. Spines with five gilt-lined bands and gilt tooling to compartments. Original Scottish floral endpapers. All edges gilt. Text in two column Roman font. Collates complete without Apocrypha. Bound with the Psalm of David in Meter. With an 18th century ownership inscription and an old bookseller’s description pasted into the rear cover.
Condition
Lightly rubbed. Both volumes chipped to top of spine. Top board of volume 2 with split hinge. Gilt remains vibrant overall. An attractive copy of a scarce Scottish Wheel design, found predominantly on Scottish Bibles from the 18th century.
