Description

This inviting title page of the groundbreaking Geneva Bible is the same type as issued in the 1560 First Edition quarto and unique to these two editions. Features a woodcut of a candlestick and citation from Matthew 5:15, “No man lighteth a candell, for to put it under a bushell, but upon the candlestick.”

Also known as the ‘Whig Bible’ for the curious error in Matthew 5:9, “Blessed are the place makers” instead of peace makers.
