A Netherlands - Dutch-  Bible/Bijbel/Biblia from the 1700's in a well preserved and sound condition. This one was likely used to brin gto chruch services as a Church Book. It has a full leather cover with blind stamped decorations and two fully functional and brass/leather hasps/locks. The Bible contains the complete text of the Old and New Testament ("Statenvertaling'). The text of the Bible has various remarks on the side of the text and contains a section with introductions to the books of the Bible.
It is bound with "het Boek der Psalmen" (book of psalms), with all Biblical psalms set to music and "Met Enige andere Lofsangen", a collection of hymns used in the Churches services - printed in 1723. The last section of this extensive Bible contains a Catechism.
Nicely engraved title page, and numerous woodcut devices and initials. Decorated initials and colophons. All title pages present.
VERY GOOD (VG). The binding is holding firmly and is in very good condition, with just some light wear and rubbing to surface / extremities, corners bumped, foot of spine abraded, a few light ink spots and marks including spray of ink splats to fore edge. Text block is firm and square, contents largely in good crisp condition with some general light toning / foxing, pale water staining at edges at points. Joint a touch strained after title leaf, the latter somewhat creased and nicked: Fo. 230 in Job with lower corner roughly torn through letterpress and with some considerable loss, reaffixed with a few sections of tape to verso: Fo. 78 in Romans with portion of lower margin torn away causing slight loss to letterpress. Period plain endpapers, some early 18th c ownership markings in Dutch to upper FE.
A very attractive and appealing antique Dutch Bible and Psalter/Hymnal of almost 300 years old!
