A huge, elephant size (15" x10") King James Bible nicely bound in contemporary
(could be original) brown leather - decorated/blind-stamped - English binding with
"Common Prayer / Holy Bible" in gold letters on the spine. Has
the complete - RARE - series of six double page maps (in English,
but based on the famous series of maps found in the Dutch 1700s
Bibles). The Bible is
complete. All title pages
present, even a set of THREE general titles to the Old Testament! Decorated chapter initials.

One of the general title
specifies the "Sacred Geography contained in six maps".
They depict (I) The situation of Paradise, (II) the
sacred geography of the known part of the world;, (III), the plan of
the city of Jerusalem, (IV) the Holy Land
during Christ; (V) the land of Canaan travelled by Christ and (VI)
the travels of St Paul and the other apostles. These maps are
absolutely astounding in beauty and detail given a remarkable inside
in the Biblical view and knowledge of the early 1700s!
Complete Bible text with all titles (including
engraved general title) and prelims etc. Also bound with an
incomplete Book of Common Prayer (starts with the collects), the
complete Apocrypha, a complete Biblical Index and a partial (lacks
after "P") Concordance.

This folio Bible is in
a VERY GOOD and well preserved condition. Leather boards
with some scuffing. The binding in good and tight shape, that makes for a solid and very useable
book that can be used and even read on a daily basis. Some previous owner's

maps are in decent shape but have some tears and other damages (see
the many pictures).
